DEDIT (ver 1.53) Shareware made Abandoned Freeware DEDIT has been extracted from the Inkutils utility suite. DEDIT is a 4DOS/TakeCommand/NDOS full-screen Description editor with mouse support. Description files are the equivalent of Microsft Long File Names, but instead of storing them in a modified version of the FAT table, they are stored in plain text files (commonly given the name "descript.ion"). DEDIT includes some unique features such as the ability to automatically scan your 4DOS/NDOS.INI file for ColorDir and other settings (so that it can use the same configuration you're already using), import file descriptions from other description files, and read Windows Long File Names from a FAT to use as the description. Type "DEDIT /h" to view a list of command line switches. If you type "DEDIT /help", the program will launch a DEDIT instruction manual stored in the executable program INKUTILS.EXE. The *.PIF and *.ICO files are Windows 3.x files which can be deleted. The text file "DESCRIP.ION" is an example Description file.
