FakeDriver (ver 0.9) Abandoned Freeware FakeDriver allows CD-ROMS to be copied to, and run from, a hard drive. FakeDriver uses MSCDEX, so it is able to work with almost all games. The hard disk with the CD-ROM contents can be local or on a network. FAKEDR.EXE is the driver that assigns a drive letter to the hard drive directory containing the CD-ROM files, while INFODR.EXE is the utility that pulls the hidden data off the CD-ROM that programs use to determine that they are actually reading the contents of the real CD-ROM disk. EMPTY-CD.EXE is a device driver that emulates an always empty cd-rom drive. This driver is only necessary on a computer with no cd-rom drive, so as to get MSCDEX loaded.
