COBOL651 (ver 6.51) Abandoned Freeware Cobol651 is a new version of the public domain Cobol650 compiler, with an IDE for DOS (and Windows), and further improvements. To start the program, run "COBEDDY.EXE". COBOL is an anacronym for "common business-oriented language". Unlike the more common succinct style, COBOL uses a verbose style of clear English language terms. This is so that the coding is self-documenting, and easy to write and read by persons not used to programming. Originally used on mainframes, the compiled output is compact, and therefore a good language choice for DOS programs. NOTE: You must set at least eight File-Control-Blocks in your Config.sys file before your can run Cobol651 [FCBS=8].
