Quarterdeck Expanded Memory Manager (ver 9.0) Abandonware Quarterdeck Office Systems QEMM is a memory management suite for DOS. It is an improved replacement for BOTH Microsoft "Himem" and "EMM386". QEMM gives DOS Expanded Memory services, eXtended Memory Services, High Memory Area services, and Dos Protected Mode Interface services. It also provides tools for relocating TSRs and portions of the DOS Kernel into Upper Memory Blocks. Most games require a memory manager to provide a "page frame" (Expanded Memory Management) and to maximize free Base memory. It is highly recommended that DOS -always- be run in conjunction with QEMM! file = qemm.zip I have also scanned a QEMM version 7 user manual, which describes the "switches" you can apply to QEMM (all switches are backwards compatible with QEMM version 9). file = Manual.pdf CAUTION: Some antique computers with proprietary "tweaks" can fool the automatic optimization feature in QEMM. This is why it is recommended that the memory (in conjunction with a memory viewer such as MANIFEST) always be configured manually, -regardless- of the memory manager used. Also, to maximize computer stability (older software would sometimes use improper memory access techniques for slight "performance" gains), limit using some of the advanced features in QEMM, as they require software to be properly following the rules. ---------- As a bonus are examples of an Autoexec.bat, Config.sys, and Dos-up.dat file that uses QEMM (note that the examples may actually work as-is for many computers, if your place your files in the exact same paths). file = EXAMPLES.zip
