CmosPwd (ver 5.0) Freeware CmosPwd is a BIOS Cracker that assists you to discover and/or erase the password stored in older computer CMOSes, so that you can enter the CMOS to make changes. A solution often required with a "hand-me-down" computer. TIP: Do -not- yourself use the "Password" CMOS lockout feature provided by the computers BIOS. It is too easy to lock yourself out by accident. Besides, if you make a backup with CmosPwd, you can restore the CMOS to clear any wrong changes. WARNING: On laptops, the password is usually stored in an eeprom on the motherboard and -not- in the CMOS. You need an eeprom programmer/eeprom reader (electronic device) to retrieve the password. If you erase the cmos (ie. cmospwd /k) and if the password is really stored in an eeprom, you won't be able to boot anymore! Windows files are located in the "windows" directory. CmosPwd requires DPMI, and will find and execute CWSDPMI if this file is in the same directory as the CmosPwd executable (bypassing the need to pre-load DPMI services). Included is a complementary CWSDPMI.EXE (release 7).
