Automenu (ver 4.7) Abandoned Shareware This shareware software is free of ads, and is not crippled in any fashion; so the current inability to register does not pose an issue. Automenu is an expandable Textual Menu, from which you can launch programs or run commands. Individual menu entries can even be password protected to prevent unauthorized selection. Automenu dynamically creates a Batch File called "AUTOTEMP.BAT" in the directory from which AUTOMENU.COM was launched. The changing contents of this Batch File are specified by instructions inside the *.MDF file. Programs you launch are actually launched by this Batch File (Automenu exits memory), so that upon the program's termination, you will be returned to the Automenu shell, rather than the DOS prompt. CAUTION: To prevent instability (e.g., crashing out to the DOS prompt), *ALWAYS* initialize AUTOMENU.COM from within a Batch File. NOTE1: The top level Menu Definition File "AUTOMENU.MDF" that ships with Automenu is only an example file, which you are expected to rewrite! This example menu calls other example menus, which I have moved (along with the un-needed installer) to the deletable EXAMPLES directory. For this reason, if you try running the menu file as-is, you could get errors. NOTE2: AUTOCUST.COM is a utility that customizes some of the features in the Automenu program code. This file is not a required part of the Automenu program. NOTE3: AUTOMAKE.EXE (and the associated context sensitive help file AUTOMAKE.CSH) is a utility intended to simplify the process of creating/editing menus. It is not a required part of the Automenu program, as *.MDF files are just normal editable Text files. If nonexistant, Automake creates a configuration file called "AUTOMAKE.CFG" in the directory from which Automake was launched. Inside the utility, you can change the ease of menu creation to Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced mode (settings are stored in AUTOMAKE.CFG).
