MacIP (ver 11.1) Abandoned Freeware MacIP is a conversion shim TSR, which allows applications that speak only to a PC/TCP Packet Driver to communicate through a LocalTalk speaking ODI adapter. The AppleTalk network, as incorporated into Apple Macintosh computers, uses ODI over Ethernet. The MACIPETH.COM shim is Class 1, while the LOCALTALK.COM shim is Class 5. Under nearly every circumstance you will be using MACIPETH.COM. ----- Like with all NICs that use ODI, you will need to load the two part ODI driver, which first consists of the universal LSL.COM TSR, and then next the NIC hardware specific ODI driver TSR. Second, you will need to load an additional AppleTalk TSR stack, which allows non-Apple hardware (your NIC) to be recognized on a physical LocalTalk Peer-to-Peer network as a valid Node. It is best to use either a Farallon Computing or Apple Computer stack (as stacks from other vendors -may- not work). - Optionally Third, depending on the AppleTalk software version (because Apple changed the protocol slightly), you -may- have to load an AppleTalk compatability patch along with your AppleTalk stack. The one offered by Farallon Computing is labeled "COMPAT.COM" (and although I have not personally tested it, I believe that this shim is -not- required when using the Farallon AppleTalk stack version 2.62). Finally, you can now load the PC/TCP Packet to LocalTalk conversion shim "MACIPETH.COM", which allows application software that only talks to a PC/TCP Packet driver, to now speak with the AppleTalk stack instead. file = MACIPETH.zip Included as a bonus is the eBook "Inside AppleTalk". file = AppleTlk.pdf =============== Farallon AppleTalk Protocol Stack (ver 2.62) Abandonware ----- AppleTalk Compatibility Patch (ver 2.01) Abandonware As a convenience, I am including the Farallon AppleTalk Protocol Stack "ATALK.COM", which was bundled with their PhoneNET hardware. This stack is capable of being loaded from the command line. file = ATALK.zip A complimentary AppleTalk Compatatability Patch "COMPAT.COM", which was also bundled along with their PhoneNET hardware, is also being included (but it should -not- be required when using this version of Farallons AppleTalk Protocol Stack).
