FIX8x14 (ver 1.0.8) Abandoned Freeware On 16 September 1998, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) strongly recommended that graphics card vendors remove BIOS support for the 8×14 font in their products to create space for VBE 3.0 implementations, and most graphics cards have followed the recommendation. This causes games and applications that use that font type to display garbage. Fix8x14 is a TSR that will restore support for 8×14 video fonts. "FIX8X14.SYS" allows loading of the TSR (high) by using Config.sys. "FIX8X14.COM" allows loading from the command line. Run it the first time to load the TSR, and a second time to remove it. "DIAG8X14.COM" tests if the 8x14 video font is available. Fix8x14 should be loaded before your DOS application which uses the 8x14 video fonts. It is know to work with SimCity 1.02 and Quatro Pro 4.
