PC-FLOW (ver 1.02) Abandoned Freeware Before the advent of Visio for Windows, there was a serious lack of dedicated DOS flow/org charting programs. At the time, Flow-logic charting was primarily an activity that was done with pencil and paper by MainFrame computer operators, while Organizaion charting was an artistic endeavor done by HR staff and geneologists. When one wanted to draw a Flow or Org chart using a PC, people usually turned to a full-blown CAD or geneology program. Written before the 386 computer, PC-FLOW is a CGA {ugh!} B&W vector image drawing program specifically for creating Flow charts. It will support a "Mouse Systems" mouse {yuck!}, but will -not- recognize a standard PS/2 mouse (you therefore will be drawing using the keyboard cursor keys... actually not too difficult a proposition with this program). File format is a B&W PIC file. All drawings are stored and saved in the programs home directory. Printing is only possible using Print Screen {fer real?}, so you need to load the DOS "GRAPHICS" driver before starting PC-FLOW. When you choose PRINT, the menu dissapears and is replaced by the drawing "flowside.pic". If you move this file out of the home directory, you will now just have a blank spot (which often makes for a nicer looking printed chart). You can also replace this file with a B&W PIC file of your own design, if you name your replacement file "flowside.pic". Unfortunately all of the pre-defined objects are standard MainFrame computer flow-logic symbols. However, you can use the line drawing feature to create symbol outlines (see: demo4). You can also add text (limited to 24 characters per entry). The size of lines, objects, and text is unchangeable. While lines and text can be placed nearly anywhere, the objects can only be placed within the confines of a 5x5 grid.
