PasswordBox (ver 0.11) Abandoned Freeware PasswordBox is essentially nothing more than a simple electronic cardfile that only stores a "Summary" (freeform text field) and an associated "Password" (freeform text field). The database is encrypted (128 bit AES encryption), and can only be unlocked with an access password you choose at the time the database is first created (if you forget this password, you are forever locked out!). PasswordBox consists of just the executable file (pbox.exe) and the encrypted database file (pbox.dat), which is stored in the same directory as the executable file. If no "pbox.dat" file exists, you will be prompted to create a new database and its access password. Note that advanced users can swap databases simply by renaming them. Example of use: Suppose that you have a telephone answering machine that uses a passcode to access your voicemail. Instead of writing the code on a piece of paper, you can start PasswordBox and create a new entry. Call the entry something like "My Answering Machine Code", then type in the passcode used to get your messages. If you ever forget this passcode, just open PasswordBox and look under the proper entry. Usage: pbox [--help] [--dump] "--help" displays a help page onscreen "--dump" displays all the data in your encrypted database onscreen typing "pbox" by itself starts the normal interactive session
