For many years 7-bit binary-to-text encoding was the standard.  Shortly 
after the new millenium, NNTP servers began to be able to handle 8-bit 
encoding.  8-bit yEnc has now become the defacto standard for binary-to-
text encoding in newsgroups (the old 7-bit encoding schemes like UUEncode 
are now rare).  yDecoder will decode yEnc text files back to binary.
